The world famous Sapporo Snow Festival is currently taking place and this year marks the 73rd edition of the popular festival that first began back in 1950!
Sapporo Snow festival 2023 is the first time since the start of Covid that international visitors have been able to marvel at the massive snow and ice sculptures built in the City with the main focus being on the Odori Park and Susukino areas.
One of the highlights this year is a large snow sculpture of Embry House in England, in memory of Florence Nightingale, built to express gratitude to al the medical workers who have been and still are, flight the Covid 19 pandemic.
If you happen to in the area, skiing in Niseko perhaps, a visit to the Sapporo Snow Festival is highly recommended. The Sapporo Snow Festival 2023 runs until the 11th February.
