Big changes are on the way at Tsugaike Mountain Resort in Hakuba Valley with a brand new chairlift in Tsugaike. For the 2026–27 winter season, the resort is rolling out a brand-new six-person chairlift that will make getting around the mountain faster, easier, and more comfortable.
Tsugaike is known for its wide-open slopes, reliable snowfall, and terrain that caters to every type of skier or snowboarder. There are 14 runs in total, from mellow beginner courses to long cruising trails, with the longest run stretching an impressive five kilometres. It’s one of Hakuba Valley’s best spots for anyone who wants a mix of space, snow, and variety, and the lifts usually run until early May — giving it one of the longest seasons in the region.
The “T3” Lift
The new chairlift in Tsugaike resort, set to open in December 2026, will replace the long-standing Han-no-ki No.3 Quad. After more than three decades in service, the upgrade is a big step forward for the resort. Built by French lift manufacturer LEITNER-POMA, the six-seater will be fitted with modern technology, including a direct drive system designed for smoother, quieter, and more energy-efficient operation.
With the longest lift line in the Tsugaike area, the T3 will make it quicker and easier for guests to move around the resort, cutting down waiting and ride times while improving overall comfort. For skiers and snowboarders, the new lift means less time in transit and more time enjoying the slopes with the new chairlift in Tsugaike making its debut for the 2026–27 season. This upgrade joins a number of other upgrades to the resorts in the region as well as new and reonvated accommodation in Hakuba.
