Lone Pine Restaurant to Reopen at Rusutsu with Full Renovation
Rusutsu Resort’s East Mountain base is set for a major upgrade this winter as the Lone Pine restaurant and base facility undergoes a complete renovation. Scheduled to reopen on 1 December 2025, the slope-side hub will welcome guests with a new design, expanded facilities, and a modern, comfortable atmosphere.
For years, Lone Pine has served as the gateway to East Mt. and Mt. Isola, popular among skiers and snowboarders as a convenient meeting point, rest area, and lunch stop. The renovation covers every area of the building, including the restaurant, café, shop, paid lounge, lockers, and restrooms, transforming it into a more inviting base for both domestic and international visitors.

Expanded dining options
The new Lone Pine restaurant will offer a wide range of dishes made with locally sourced Rusutsu ingredients, including ramen, curry, snacks, and desserts. It will also feature the only vegan menu available on the slopes, catering to diverse diets and international guests.
Next door, the Lone Pine Café will serve lighter options such as wrap sandwiches, salads, and soft-serve ice cream. A morning set menu will be available for early risers before the lifts open.

More comfort for skiers and riders
The lobby has been redesigned with soft carpeting and an open layout for smooth access to the slopes. For those looking to relax between runs, the paid K-Lounge offers a cozy space with complimentary drinks, magazines, and foot massage machines. It even includes a blood pressure monitor for guests who appreciate attention to detail.

Shopping and convenience
The renovated Rupow Base shop now features large windows and a bright, open design. It stocks gloves, goggles, beanies, and other accessories from popular snow brands, along with original Rusutsu merchandise. It’s ideal for quick purchases or browsing between ski sessions.

A welcome addition to Rusutsu’s dining scene
The reopening of Lone Pine is a welcome improvement to Rusutsu’s on-mountain dining. Until now, most visitors have flocked to the busy Steamboat cafeteria, which can become crowded during lunch hours. Meanwhile, the restaurant at the base of the Isola Gondola focuses on premium dining with dishes such as wagyu and oysters, which is generally less crowded.
The renewed Lone Pine restaurant, with its relaxed cafeteria-style menu and improved facilities, will ease pressure on Steamboat and provide guests with a practical, comfortable new place to refuel and recharge before heading back onto the slopes.
