Japan Travel Guidance

General guidance for international travellers visiting Japan for ski holidays.

Visa requirements

Most travellers from countries including the UK, Australia, Singapore, USA, Hong Kong, and most EU countries are granted visa-free entry to Japan for stays of up to 90 days. Travellers should ensure their passport is valid for the duration of their stay.

Health and entry requirements

Japan no longer requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination or pre-departure testing for entry. Standard health and customs requirements apply.

On arrival

Most international flights to Japan arrive at Tokyo (Narita or Haneda) or Osaka (Kansai). For Niseko and other Hokkaido resorts, travellers typically transit through New Chitose Airport in Sapporo. For Hakuba, travellers connect from Tokyo via bus or train.
