Japan Snow Season

The Japan ski season’s peak months are between December and March. Many resorts open in November, and the excitement of the first snow dump is hard to beat! By late December great snow conditions are usually reliable, but powder hounds searching for deep Japan powder snow should wait for a good snow base which develops by around mid-January. January tends to see the most consistent snowfall, with huge daily dumps the norm. February also offers great conditions, with a slight warming of temperatures as the month progresses, and March typically proves an incredible month of the Japan snow season, characterised by deep snow and bluebird days.

Skiing in Japan

A once well kept secret, international skiers and snowboarders have learned that skiing in Japan is some of the finest in the world owing to its consistently light, dry powder snow conditions. From the Japanese mainland of Honshu to the northern island of Hokkaido, Siberian snow dumps in awe inspiring quantities on Japan’s mountainous terrain. As a country visited more often for it’s temples and cherry blossoms, it seems unbelievable that a typical Japan snow season beats North America’s best resorts for quantity and quality of powder snow! Not only that, but Japan has more ski resorts than any other country in the world, providing the ultimate choice for anyone wanting to ski Japan.
