Rusutsu Resort has two main sides to the resort; the West Mountain which is where the main resort hotel is located, and the East Mountain side which is where the majority of the ski runs are located. Frequent snowfall throughout winter creates great conditions for both groomers and tree runs, with terrain that naturally funnels back towards the chairlifts.

January and February usually offer the most best powder conditions. March still has good coverage with longer daylight hours. Thanks to Rusutsu’s excellent grooming, the skiing is excellent right up till the end of the winter.
How do I get to Rusutsu?
Most travellers arrive via New Chitose Airport and continue on to Rusutsu by direct bus or private transfer. Travel time is around 2 hours.
Do I need a car in Rusutsu?
No. Rusutsu is a self-contained resort with ski-in ski-out accommodation and on-site facilities. A car is not required for most stays.
Is Rusutsu good for families?
Yes. Rusutsu suits families well, with accommodation options including apartments and chalets, beginner-friendly ski areas, and a wide range of dining options. Rusutsu has many family friendly activities and services which are great for families.
How busy does Rusutsu get during peak season?
Rusutsu can be busy during Christmas/New Year. Booking accommodation early is recommended, especially for peak dates. The layout of Rusutsu’s ski runs and chairlifts is able to spread out any crowds very well, so even on busy days the resort does not usually feel busy once on the slopes.
How early should I plan Rusutsu accommodation during peak season?
For best availability, it’s common to book accommodation from March onwards for the following winter season, particularly for late December and February travel dates.
Can I book everything in Rusutsu in one place?
Yes. Once your Rusutsu accommodation is confirmed, you can add transfers, lift passes, rentals, and lessons so everything is organised for your stay. This means that everything is already organised for your stay and allows bookings to be confirmed as suppliers open availability.
