There are four onsens in Rusutsu, with three located within hotels in Rusutsu and a smaller onsen just a short drive away from the resort. The most modern onsen is located in The Vale Rusutsu, with large onsen baths at the Rusutsu Resort Hotel and the Westin Rusutsu.

Kotobuki Onsen - The Vale Rusutsu
Kotobuki Onsen is a large, modern onsen facility located inside The Vale Rusutsu. It features a large outdoor bath with seating as well as a spacious indoor bath. The women’s side has a special mist sauna while the men’s has a dry sauna. This is a very comfortable and modern facility great for any kind of traveller. If you’re staying at the hotel, access to this onsen is free, and if you’re just visiting you can enter by making payment at the hotel’s front desk.

South Wing Public Bath - Rusutsu Resort Hotel
This is a classic Japanese hotel onsen located within the Rusutsu Resort Hotel in the south wing. This is an indoor onsen that uses spring water from the foot of Mt. Yotei and features a dry sauna, large indoor bath and a cold plunge pool. Access is free for hotel guests with payment required at the hotel front desk for daytime visitors.

Westin Rusutsu Hot Spring
This onsen is located within the Westin Rusutsu Hotel and features an outdoor bath, a large indoor bath, sauna and an aroma jacuzzi that changes scents daily. The men’s outdoor onsen looks out over the resort, and the women’s outdoor bath has a privacy screen. Access is free for guests of Rusutsu Resort Hotel, and day guests can use the bath by making payment at the front desk.

Rusutsu Hot Springs
Rusutsu Hot Springs is a small public onsen located a short drive away from the main resort of Rusutsu. The onsen here uses 100% natural hot spring water that is pumped directly into the onsen baths. If you are interested in trying a completely natural onsen, this is a great place to visit. While this is a small, no-frills, unassuming onsen, it may be a worthwhile stop. Towels, soap and shampoo are not provided or available at this onsen, so you must bring all your own bathing accessories.
