Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need previous backcountry experience?
No experience is required for in-bounds guiding. Off-piste and backcountry touring require strong intermediate ability, good fitness, and confidence skiing variable snow. You should be comfortable skiing trees, navigating hazards, and traversing across flats.
Is avalanche safety gear included?
Avalanche safety equipment is available for hire as part of your guiding booking. Your guide will provide instructions on how to use all required equipment.
Do I need a lift pass for guided days?
Yes. A lift pass is required for all guiding, including backcountry touring, as some trailheads are accessed via ski lifts.
What happens if weather conditions are poor?
Your guide will adjust terrain choice, location, or itinerary to suit snow conditions, weather, and safety.
Can beginners join backcountry tours?
Backcountry touring is not suitable for beginners. In-bounds resort guiding is recommended instead.
